The Rotten Hill Gang in Streatham

On Friday 26th March, The White Lion on Streatham High Road will play host to ‘The Rotten Hill Gang‘ featuring Mick Jones, from The Clash, on guitar. The bands sound can only be described as Dickensian Hip Hop. They write original songs, mixed and mashed up with samples from film soundtracks and music hall songs. Add some hip hop beats, a female vocalist and an MC and you get a pretty unique sound. Their live performances have a reputation for liveliness and they’ve been known to launch in to ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go‘, which gets Mick Jones’ fans going crazy.
This looks to be another good night from Oz at The White Lion and all in aid of charity. The proceeds from the gig will go towards building an orphanage in Nepal so you can feel all warm and fuzzy inside as you enjoy yourselves. You can buy tickets to The Rotten Hill Gang gig by making a donation here. Good work OZ.
***POSTPONED: Since writing this the gig has had to be postponed. Here is the message from Oz.***
Hi Everyone, It’s with great regret that I have to inform you the Rotten Hill Gang has been postponed. Mick Jones has gone on tour with the Gorillaz for a couple of months so we have to reschedule the gig. If you would like a refund please let me know and I will refund your money, otherwise you can keep on the list and wait for the rescheduled date.
Apologies again.
Oz Bayldon

Great blog but currently near-unusable as constantly forwards to Rotten Hill Gang’s MySpace when you’ve been on the home page for more than 3 seconds. Please fix! Thanks
PS. I also blog from Streatham Hill – on urban nature, though!
Hi Mel
I’m sorry about that. I just discovered that it was doing that. It was something to do with the embedded myspace player, which had started re-directing to The Rotten Hill Gang site. I’ve removed it which has solved the problem for now, but I’ll work on reinstating it if possible.
I’ll check out your blog. I’ve been organising a community gardening project recently to help add some urban nature to Streatham Hill so it sounds interesting.
