Map Mash-Up logoThe Great Streatham Map Mash-up is an experiment to create a collaborative and comprehensive map of Streatham. Anyone can contribute towards the Map Mash-Up by making a Google My Map and posting the link to it in the comments section below. Why not map your favorite cycle routes, places of historical interest or the best fried chicken shops in town? To start things off we’ve included a Sustainable Streatham map, a Streatham pub crawl map and a collaborative map of places that offer free wi-fi. You can add places to the free wi-fi map by clicking here and clicking edit. There’s also a Wikipedia layer and a Panoramio photos layer. You can turn the layers on or off by clicking on them or ticking the boxes.

Creating a map from scratch is easy. If you’ve never done it before then just follow these simple instructions. Sign up for a Google account. If you’ve already got a Gmail address then you’ve already got an account. When you’ve signed in, go to Google Maps. At the top of the left sidebar click on the ‘My Maps’ link and then click ‘create a new map’. Give it a name and then use the tools in the top left corner of the map to add placemarks & draw lines or shapes. You can add descriptions, pictures, videos, links. You can also change the colour of your placemark icons or upload your own pictures to use instead. When you’re happy with your map click ‘Link’ in the top right corner and paste the link then submit it using the comments section below. The best maps will be added to the mash-up. Good luck and get mapping.

Harsh, you’ve dissed West Streatham and Streatham Park! Not sure of the boundary but I used to live on Thrale Road which is defo in Streatham.

The boundary is part of the sustainable Streatham map. I thought it looked wrong too. I know people who definitely live in Balham but who’s address is included within this boundary as well. Perhaps someone could research the official boundary and make a map of that. I’d happily include it in the mash up.
